HIKING ROUTE ON MØNS KLINT
THE POPULAR GRAY BACK ROUTE GOES BOTH ON THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF AND ALONG THE BEACH. IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE DRAMATIC.
From GeoCenter Møns Klint you go south from Klintestien, past the remains of Freuchens Pynt, which fell into the sea in 1998. When you get to the Sandfall and Sommerspirpynten, remember to enjoy the view, the grandeur and the silence before you continue. On the Sommerspirspynten, the Sommerspiret reigned until January 1998, when it was known as a landmark Møns Klint plunged into the sea in a mighty rock slide. However, the decoration is still worth noting, as the peregrine falcons often sit here and keep a lookout.
At Gråryg Fald, you go down the stairs to the beach and walk along the water back to the Maglevandstrappen and the GeoCenter. On the beach, there are sections with flint, mixed walking blocks, fossils and a sandy beach. Allow plenty of time to look for fossils, enjoy the view and climb the two stairs, which consist of 468 and 497 steps.
Length: 2,3 km
Duration: approx. 45 minutes
THE HUMAN MANHOOD EXAMINATION
Until the fall of Sommerspiret in 1988, there was a foolhardy tradition on Møn called The Mønske Manddomsprøve. Young men had to try to go all the way to the edge Møns Klint and all the way around Sommerspiret, with 100 dizzying meters down. At GeoCenter Møns Klint you can try a Virtual Reality version of the manhood test. Read more here.
