HIKING ROUTE
6,1 km

The Biodiversity Route

Welcome to the biodiversity route!

A circular hiking route of 6,1 km starting and ending at the GeoCenter Møns Klint.

You start at Dronningestolen, the highest point on Møns Klint, and follows the cliff edge north – with fantastic views of the Baltic Sea. The route then turns deep into the forest, where you will experience dead ice holes, forest clearings, old untouched forest, 'mountains' and ancient monuments, and – if you're lucky – maybe an orchid or two.

10 dissemination stops
Along the route you will find 10 information stops that tell the story of Møns Klints very special landscape and unique nature.

Biodiversity passport
If you are hiking with children, you can get a biodiversity pass at the reception at GeoCenter. Møns KlintThe pass includes a letter hunt, quiz and small tasks along the route, as well as a small prize when the trip is completed.

The special exhibition “Everything is connected”
At GeoCenter Møns Klint You can also experience the exhibition "Everything is Connected" about the biodiversity on Høje Møn. Here you can learn about the area's rare species such as the peregrine falcon, the black-spotted bluebird and the wild orchids.

Length: 6,1 km

Duration: approx. 2 hours

The biodiversity route is made by GeoCenter Møns Klint in collaboration with the Danish Nature Agency. The route is supported by the Nordea Foundation and is part of the EU project LIFE Orchids.

MIRACULOUS BRONZEALDERBORG

Along the route you will pass Timmesøbjerg, which hides one of Denmark's oldest and perhaps most enigmatic defensive structures - a 3.000-year-old refuge castle from the Bronze Age. On the side of the 'mountain' you can still see the three old ramparts and graves. On top of the ramparts there were wooden palisades, and it is believed that the structure functioned as a refuge castle, where the population of the area could seek protection when an enemy approached. Back then, there was less forest, and therefore you had a strategically good view of the landscape.
