GO ON A DISCOVERY AMONG THE MANY FOSSILS FROM THE DANISH CRETACEOUS.
What fossils can you come up with Møns Klint? What do they look like? And what do the fossils tell us about the life and drama that unfolded in the Cretaceous Sea 70 million years ago?
Explore among giant candles, sea urchins, rattlesnakes, calcareous fungi, bryozoans and giant oysters. You can also see some of the very special fossils of the Cretaceous, which have been named Danekræ. These include a possible arm hook of a giant squid, and a tooth from the giant marine lizard mosasaurus – also known as the T-rex of the Sea!
Afterwards, you can walk the 497 steps down to the beach and maybe find your very own 70 million year old fossil!
Danekræ is a counterpart to Danefæ, and denotes natural history objects found in the ground of exceptional scientific or exhibition value. Danekræ belongs to the state and must be handed over to the Museum of Natural History for a small fee.
