What is Green Attraction?
Green Attraction is a recognized environmental label given to museums, amusement parks, zoos and other places of experience. The scheme was developed by HORESTA and is based on a number of criteria within, among others, energy, waste management, purchasing and communication. The goal is to make it easier for Danish and international guests to choose green and responsible experiences.
Sustainable initiatives at GeoCenter Møns Klint
GeoCenter Møns Klint is located in some of Denmark's most unique nature, and we see it as our most important task to help take care of it. Sustainability and green transition are included in both operations, development and communication. Here you can read about some of the initiatives:
Energy
The old oil boiler has been replaced with modern heat pumps. The GeoCentre's electricity consumption is primarily covered by wind energy.
Transport
Charging stations for electric cars have been installed to promote green transport to and from Møns KlintIn addition, guests are informed about bicycle rental and the possibilities of using public transport.
Waste and recycling
Visible waste sorting has been introduced both indoors and outdoors, and work is ongoing to reduce the amount of waste. When new special exhibitions are built, there is also a strong focus on recycling materials, such as existing screens, display cases and wall panels.
Kemi
All cleaning products used are eco-labeled to reduce the amount of harmful chemicals.
Green purchasing
A green purchasing policy ensures that materials and products meet environmental standards.
Communication
Sustainability is an integral part of the entire guest experience. The exhibition, guided tours and school courses provide information on how you can help take care of nature.
In 2024, a new special exhibition opened with associated educational courses on biodiversity and the biodiversity crisis.
GeoCenter Møns Klint was awarded the Green Attraction certification in January 2025.
Help us take care Møns Klint
Use the waste stations set up and help us sort waste.
Take your bike or public transport when possible. If you drive an electric car, we have electric charging stations in the parking lot. Read more under Plan your visit.
Bring a water bottle and avoid single-use plastic.
Help us take good care of Møn's unique nature. Take your trash with you, look after the rare plants and orchids, and keep your dog on a leash.
