VPAC
GEOCENTER MØNS KLINT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE 2009 DANISH SCIENCE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY CENTERS SINCE 15 – ALSO CALLED VPAC.
What is a knowledge pedagogical activity center (VPAC)?
“VPAC” is an association of 15 Knowledge Pedagogical Activity Centers in Denmark. The VPACs are experience centers that aim to convey difficult-to-access topics within history, nature and science. This is done through educational, practically oriented and challenging activities for all senses.
The VPAC centers are also cultural attractions with local, regional and national appeal and play an important role in education at primary and secondary schools by offering unique and engaging learning that appeals to children and young people. In addition, the centers are of great importance for tourism and the experience economy in the country.
The VPAC centers span different areas of dissemination – all characterized by a constant pursuit of dynamism, development and user involvement.
All dissemination is research-based, and the VPACs are thus communication links between citizens, educational institutions and research institutions.
The 15 VPAC centers cover two general fields of knowledge:
Natural sciences and natural knowledge
These VPACs make a major effort to increase interest in natural science among children, young people and adults in Denmark, while several of the institutions also provide experiences and knowledge about unique Danish nature:
Historical and cultural knowledge about Denmark
Together, these VPACs convey the main features of Danish history and its cultural heritage from the Stone Age, the Iron Age, the Viking Age and the Middle Ages to the 1800th century Danish-German wars over Denmark's southern border.
VPAC institutions that mediate in these areas are:
