Your time journey starts in the Cretaceous period, when Denmark was covered by a large tropical sea.
The Cretaceous sea was filled with deadly sea lizards – and not least billions of small coccolith algae, whose shells later became the chalk that our subsoil and Møns Klint is formed by. From the Cretaceous period, you move through the Tertiary period, when 2/3 of all life became extinct due to meteor impacts and supervolcanoes. And where the chalk due to land uplift reappeared on the surface. On to the Quaternary ice ages – where gigantic glaciers pushed up the old chalk plates from the Cretaceous period, and thus formed the strongly hilly landscape we know from Høje Møn – and not least Møns Klint. An end to the fantastic natural wealth found in today's landscape on Østmøn - and where a number of unique species today have their last habitat in Denmark.
The exhibition is dug into the cliff itself and built as an exciting time journey of 70 million years.
