Knowledge and Educational Activity Centres in Denmark

Since 2009, GeoCenter Møns Klint has been one of 16 Danish ‘Knowledge and Educational Activity Centres’.

What is a Knowledge and Educational Activity Centre?

Knowledge and Educational Activity Centres are state-subsidised activity centres, where children and adults can gain knowledge of, and insight into nature, history and science through educational and challenging activities that appeal to all the senses.

The learning activities of the Knowledge and Educational Activity Centres help to bridge the gap between the research and teaching sector and the ‘Denmark Family’ in the broad sense of the word.

Learning through active participation

The Centres all present exhibitions and offer a wide range of international-standard learning activities: activities that are based on the participation of children and adults, and on new presentational techniques. This means that the way, in which subjects are conveyed, is dynamic, forward-looking and exciting!

New forms of learning in close interaction with the education sector

Many of the activities are aimed at education in primary schools and youth education programmes. Teaching takes place in an informal learning environment in close interaction with the education sector.
