About GeoCenter Møns Klint
GeoCenter Møns Klint was opened by Queen Margrethe on May 29, 2007. The Queen is also patron of the GeoCenter.
Location
GeoCenter Møns Klint is located in the middle of the beautiful – and sometimes harsh – nature. It is surrounded by the mysterious Klinteskov forest to the south, west and north. To the east – only a dozen meters from the building – comes Møns Klint. A drop of 100 meters down to the beach bears witness to the time from Denmark's birth.
The wing-shaped building was designed by PLH Architects, who won the international architectural competition in 2002 ahead of 291 competitors.
The GeoCenter Foundation Møns Klint
GeoCenter Møns Klint is owned by a private business foundation whose purpose is based on non-profit principles:
– to run a geology and nature center at Møns Klint, including serving the public and providing information on nature and culture
– to support other non-profit nature and culture communication
Board members:
The foundation has leased the buildings to GeoCenter Møns Klint A/S, which on behalf of the foundation runs service and mediation activities from the site.

COOPERATION WITH THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ADMINISTRATION
The parties have entered into a usage and operation agreement that defines the framework for the collaboration. The agreement includes, among other things, that GeoCenter Møns Klint must oversee the distribution of the areas owned by the Danish state on Høje Møn, including Møns Klint, Klinteskoven, and the grassland areas Jydelejet and Høvblege.
The Norwegian Nature Agency is still responsible for managing the areas, but GeoCenter Møns Klint has therefore taken over the primary dissemination of the areas.
