BEHIND THE FOUNDATION

Architecture
and facilities

In 2002, PLH arkitekter, from Copenhagen, won the open international architectural competition ahead of 291 competitors. The judging committee agreed that PLH's proposal distanced itself unequivocally positively from the rest, among other things with the following comment:

'The building subordinates itself to the landscape and at the same time emphasizes the plateau with the view of the Maglevandfall and gives the preserved hotel with its history the air of a point de vue in the landscape.
The overall shape of the building with the curved and floating 'cliff wall' that draws and explains the landscape's topography from a distance is a clear and beautiful thought'……

Prior to the architectural competition, a communication competition was held. It was won by EXPO Møns Klint – a consortium consisting of film director Ole Bornedal, designer Troels Seidenfaden, architect Michael Bloch Honoré, advertising director Ulrik Heilman and geologist Stig Schack Pedersen. In connection with the final preparation of the exhibitions, collaboration with GODesign was initiated

The GeoCentre is built from the inside out. With defined exhibition prerequisites in place before the architectural competition is carried out, we have a house that is built on the premises of the communication vision. The result is an exhibition that plays on all the senses and scenographically imaginable elements.

GeoCenter Møns Klint lies on itself Møns Klint. In the middle of the beautiful – and sometimes harsh – nature. The center is surrounded by the mythical Klinteskov to the south, west and north. To the east – only a dozen meters from the building – comes Møns Klint. A drop of 100 meters down to the beach bears witness to the time from Denmark's birth.
